The Chasing4LifeTeam is a group of unique individuals, many of which drive unique Weather Moinitoring and Research Vehicles or Disaster Response vehicles that have become popular at events around the country. 2009 brought changes in drivers, vehicles and capability, so keep checking back...the new stuff will all be here shortly! Meet the team...
Chasing4Life founder Eddy Weiss traversed the country for years with his sidekick “Dorothy”. Dorothy was a 1992 Chevy S-10 Blazer fully outfitted for disaster response and storm chasing. Dorothy gained national notoriety not just because of stormchasing and research but because of the thousands that "met" her at educational events around the country. In early September of 2009, Dorothy was retired to her new home at the Sci_tech Children's Museum in Aurora, Illinois where she continues to be an icon of disaster preparedness education in a large hands-on display.
Cory Schuller hails from Imperial, Nebraska and is a much-respected forecaster when it comes to severe weather monitoring. Cory is a family man and has a passion for education and the safety of the American family. Aside from Cory's constant involvement in severe weather monitoring, Cory has the responsibility of training the team itself and has been involved for some time with local and regional emergency management agencies as well.
"Zephyros", driven by Brandi Hodgen is one of the team's better-known severe weather monitoring vehicles. The vehicle has recently been on a 10 state tour and plansd are to continue its use in 2010 for severe weather research and monitoring. You will find that Brandi spends much of her time assisting in creating severe weather safety programs and tracking severe weather for not only the team but for fire departments and emergency management agencies around the country.
Cathy Davis is our "Den Mother", keeping us all in line, overseeing chases as well as daily operations. Cathy is a vetran disaster recovery worker and business woman who has a knack for being able to keep track of a sometimes unruly team! Cathy also organizes all disaster recovery efforts the team is involved in.
Dan Bocklund is a long-standing member of the team a drives the team's only pick-up truck; a severe weather monitoring vehicle named "WindRider". Dan has been busy on the speaking circuit this year with not only severe weather safety programs, but with his own programs on geology and paleaontology. You can find out more about Dan by visiting his personal site HERE . .
Jim Dills of Doniphan, Nebraska joined the team in 2009 with his 95 Chevy Blazer named Black Thunder, a connection to Jim's Lakota family history. Speaking of history, Jim has a background that includes storm spotting for his local fire department, 13 years with the Nebraska National Guard, 3 years as an EMT and 6 years in Red Cross disaster relief work. Jim will be overseeing much of the disaster recovery work in 2010 and will hopefully be touring with educational programs after January of 2010.
Alannah Raven is the youngest member of the team but do not let her age fool you! Alannah has already put in quite a bit of time in severe weather monitoring and research with the team as well as assisting in the daily operations of Chasing4Life. Alannah presently tours the country presenting programs and involving herself in the public relations aspect of Chasing4Life.
The team would get nowhere without the expertise and dedication of C4L LeadTracker Brandi Hodgen. Aside from driving a severe weather monitoring vehicle, Brandi operates the C4L Tracking Center.
Chad Griffiths has come aboard the Chasing4Life team as an instructor/educator and will be seen a lot on the tour circuit in 2010. Chad will be presenting severe weather safety and weather science programs in not only the United States but in Canada as Chasing4Life broadens its influence.
